when I took the nissan performance driving school with charlie goodman and his instructors they were not at all keen on the 300zx as a track car. they proved to me they were correct. the 240 sx was a much nicer handler and easier to control due to lighter weight and less power to deal with. I think if you are going to run a school it's going to depend a bit on the level of instruction your going to deliver. is your customer base going to be beginners, strictly experts or most likely anybody who is willing to pay up? you may want to consider how expensive this car is going to be to maintain for a school car. do you want to make a good profit or a living from doing this? or do you just want to supplemant your own fun by doing some teaching on the side? keep in mind 911's are rear engined cars with a large rear weight bias and require a slightly different driving techniqur than a front engined rear driver like the 300's and quite a different technique from a front driver altogether. personally I don't think the z is agood choice for a track car and as a matter of fact I'm looking for a new track car myself. it doesn't give enough feedback and is too heavy and too powerful for beginners especially the twin turbos. they are a poor choice for a beginner to learn on and I wish I had started with a different car. civics are cheap and easier to drive quick and have a less steep learning curve which will make your students feel good and may create more business through word of mouth. although ultimately they would learn more from a rear driver. I'm looking into a first generation mr2sc, mid engined like a real race car, reardrive, light weight ,fairly cheap, not too much power to get into trouble and the drivability of a super charged engine as opposed to turbo charging.
